Shoshanna Tokar (she/her) is a Mental Health Counselor currently practicing under supervision as she works toward full licensure in New York. She works with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, self-esteem concerns, relationship challenges, life transitions, and performance-related stress.
Shoshanna’s approach is warm, collaborative, and client-centered. She is deeply committed to creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel comfortable exploring difficult thoughts, emotions, and experiences. She believes that a strong therapeutic relationship built on empathy, trust, and understanding is the foundation for meaningful and lasting change. Her goal is for clients to feel both supported and empowered as they move through their healing and growth.
She takes a holistic approach to therapy, recognizing the connection between the mind, body, and overall well-being. Shoshanna works with clients to better understand how past experiences, relationships, and internal patterns may be influencing their present challenges, while also helping them build practical tools to navigate everyday life with more confidence and clarity.
Her work is integrative and tailored to each individual. She draws from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness-based techniques. She combines insight-oriented work with skills-based strategies to help clients not only process their experiences, but also create real, sustainable change..
Shoshanna earned her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Adelphi University’s Derner School of Psychology and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Syracuse University. She has received training in CBT, DBT, psychodynamic therapy, and EMDR.
Shoshanna is currently accepting new clients under supervision.
